Children deserve safer summers at camp.

Our Mission

We keep children safe through prevention, preparation, and protection while preserving the joy and tradition of summer camp.

26 Million children participate in summer camps each year in the United States.*

Yet the industry entrusted with their care operates under inconsistent safety standards, leaving millions of children at risk of preventable incidents.

Our Story

From Grief to Action

The Safe Summers Foundation was launched by a coalition of parents of the 25 campers and two counselors (“Heaven’s 27”) who lost their lives while in the care of Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas, during the July 4, 2025, flash floods. Our mission is rooted in the hope that such a preventable tragedy never happens to another family.

Parents are the most influential and powerful advocates for children and their safety.

Join us to reach 27,000 parents in a nationwide movement committed to ensuring summer camps across the country are safe and fun for children.
